MOTOROLA AM vintage tube auto 50's car old chrome antique mono classic radio

Up for auction is this clean older vibrator type Motorola tube car radio. This radio is clean, it has some scuffs and the chrome on the front is a little pitted. The glass dial is shiney and in good conditon. This is a 12 volt radio, the radio will work with negative or positive ground. This radio has been serviced with new capacitors. The filter caps and all other caps with voltage potential across them were replaced. All resistors measure within tolerance. The volume/tone/tuning controls have been cleaned and lubricated. They function smoothly and as they should. The dial lights up. There is a piece of tape on top with writing on it indicating the unit was dealer installed in a '56 Chevy. This radio plays like brand new with strong reception and strong volume with plenty of bass punch. The original vibrator operates flawlessly. This radio has three leads coming out of it. The two brown ones are for the speaker and the cloth is for the 12 volts. The metal case is the ground or hot depending on which polarity the radio is connected. The radio has an internal audio output transformer so all that is required is a 4, 6 or 8 ohm speaker connected to the speaker leads. The dial light is wired internally and comes on when the radio is turned on. Please use a 6 to 8 amp fuse inline with the power lead for safety when operating radio. I have been playing the radio on a bench with a piece of 3 foot wire for the antenna and a stereo speaker connected to it along with a stout 12 volt power supply. The radio rocks and sounds like a juke box! Please adjust the antenna trimmer with the radio tuned to a weak station around 1400 kcs for max output with the antenna you use on the radio. The antenna trimmer adjusment screw is beside the antenna jack. The size of this radio is approximately 9" across, 8" front to back and 4" tall. It weighs around 7 pounds. The numbers stamped in the steel case are: CTM6 and 2243. The tube lineup is 12X4, 12BE6, 12BD6, 12BD6, 12CR6, 12AB5. All tubes are strong with no grid emission. This radio does not have knobs on it. The shafts are in perfect condition. This would be a geat little radio to play with or install in a car for anyone who likes old tube type audio gear. Caution: the radio has high voltages inside, around 300 volts at some points! If you have any questions, feel free to send email. Thanks for looking!!
