This "Brand New" in the original box, vintage antique AM 7 transistor radios are the rare of the rare.   Collectors call them NOS (new old stock).

These were made in the Republic of China before 1968 over 43 years ago and are still brand new !!!

Yes we have done the research Provenance to confirm manufacturer as follows:

PRC 68 Baoshihua ??? 7053AG1 The model Baoshihua ??? 705 Jewel Flower operates with only 1.5 volts.

____________________________________________________

The first transistors ever made were germanium not silicon like today.  Germanium transistor use was stopped in about 1970 making these even more rare and also able to run on a single 1.5 volt "D" cell battery.  Silicon transistors need higher voltages to work properly and the main reason for the 9 volt battery creation.

Another great plus is how loud it plays, plus run a long time, because of this "D" battery.  You cannot beat  in an emergency, because it uses same battery type, as your flashlight !!

Unlike cell phone towers that become overloaded or blown away in an emergency the AM radio keeps on working plus will receive stations from over 2,000 miles on most nights.

You can bet the million people who had power go dead during hurricane Irene wish they had one of these not a stinking smellphone.  In Florida we have lost power for 2 weeks with zero smellphone service during hurricane Wilma for example.  NYC had zero smellphone during 911.

This is why the emergency broadcast system is setup for AM not short distance local stations only FM or even shorter television.

These always work.  IF you're on a mountaintop, middle of the ocean or the South Pole. (Sorry not this side of moon without an external antenna)

History of radio is as follows:

My good friend Dean’s son gave an old cardboard shipping box with oriental writing on it to me.

Dean, a brilliant engineer who could fix anything that moved (any kind or size of old sewing machine was his favorite), had been retired several years when I moved in across the street from him. He welcomed my family in like old friends and was always there for company or the challenge of repairing anything for anybody in the neighborhood.

He had spent several years in the orient as a young man and then Alzheimer’s struck. His California garage was full of paraphernalia that was eventually left to his son -- who thought I would find the contents of the strange box interesting. I did WOW 20 original transistor radios still in their original packaging?  If offered reasonable price for this rarity, starting with one may sell a few, only thru a electronic engineering friends ultra high quality merchandise website, nucow(dot)com on ebay.

He and I was amazed also at the really strong emergency reception of this radio and requiring only one D size battery to work.   Alan.

Seller Description:

I tested this and it works 100%.  They sure don't make stuff like this anymore.  Even though it is not large, quality is certainly not lacking.  It sports REAL bright metal trim work and a very solid molded plastic cabinet.  The tuner dial behind the glass is metal and not a metal colored painted plastic panel.  The vernier scale tuning is a joy to use as are the unique rotary tuning and volume/on-off controls.  Not fancy but certainly enough to be as functional as you will need.  It even has a built in transformer-power supply which is normally lacking on smaller devices.  It will accept either DC input, AC cord input, or 4-AA batteries.  The battery compartment is clean and I just replaced the foam padding.  The antenna, as you can see extends and retracts true, and has a screw on antenna tip, unlike the crimped on varieties of modern antenna shafts.  It comes with the original carry case and a power cord.  Audio quality is loud and clear, and outperforms many radios of larger size.  This will be the perfect companion to carry around with you during travel, to ball games, to picnics and strolls in the parks.... whatever and wherever a compact portable radio solution is desired.  Remember, it's 38 years old so you can consider it an antique and it will have the normal wear marks commensurate with an item of this age.  It could also use some cleaning, but I will leave that to the new owner.  However, as you can see from the many pictures I snapped, it certainly is still in very presentable condition.

GUARANTEE:

3 day right of return.   Guaranteed to be as described or you may return it for full purchase price (see return policy below) less shipping costs.
