I have way to many radios right now, so I am selling some of my projects-in-waiting.  Since I know the frustration of not knowing exactly the condition of radios bought on EBay, I will give a complete condition report on the unrestored radios I sell.  Please see the report below and the pictures to see the condition of the radio.  Basically, this is all original and works, but plays with a hum.  Also, the clock works well with very little noise. I verified the sleep timer also works, but I couldn't figure out how to set the alarm.

Make Them Really Nu

nucow com Excels in providing customer authentic antiques and vintage products, (never replicas) that are extremely hard, but more likely, in this top collector condition, impossible to find. All of these unique items have been completely cleaned, hand polished, hand painted, oven baked multi-coated with true, lasting quality. Each item has been completely renewed to Museum Quality both inside and out to Nu condition. In this top collectible form, the typical item listed took over 1 year of restoration work. Check out the photos to find this fact obvious.

Own Something That Goes Up In Value

Any true collector will tell you the items condition and rarity is what really sets the value. Nucow pricing is based on significant amounts of research to provide a price vs. condition great value. Since they are truly top quality plus unique, to date every collectible item sold has provided a value increase, unlike stock market risky investments, these have only improved over time.

When Gift an Heirloom They Remember You For Life

A collectible gift will be saved, displayed, demonstrated along with person giving, always remembered, even by future generations. Why purchase a gift that is going to be thrown away? Our items are true (Forget Me Not). Instead of maybe in the future, all listed items are real collector types, right now.

Real Art Deco

Since the company is based in Florida all Art Deco is in artist renderings from the true source of art deco styles. Every item is restored by Florida USA deco artists and electronic engineers. They are totally renewed & assembled in the USA. True Americana Artwork Not Import Plastic Fake or Reproduction.

All of our Art Deco Radios are not in good or great condition they are in excellent condition. Most people, examining one of ours ask: Is it new?

Due, to unique excellence and ultra thick luster, with beauty, our Art Deco Radios are greatly sought over, as collectible radios worldwide, when in this truly, very rare, excellent, like new condition.

The antique radios period was when made in america, collector radios, that are now collectible radios, as unusual gifts for men, now stands for the whole and future family an heirloom, that has become a truly great for all, including guests, to enjoy for people worldwide, of all ages, with true lasting, modern beauty and durability.

Our company provides excellence with quality, not cheap cons, ploys, untruths etc. but a group of engineers that take pride in their workmanship and want to preserve true history for all future generations with exciting heirlooms..

Do not be fooled by others who profess, repaired is bad, since, what good is a collectible that does not even work correctly and the first thing everyone asks, when they see it on display is, does it work? They simply do not want to pay anyone with real experience to properly repair it.

No cracks, chips, internal, or external filth. Great like new dials and labeling. Yes, even the inside shows wonderful.

Also, do not be fooled, by anyone whom deceives with statements like. I did not sand and polish the trim or body, but like looking, at the dull brown, dirty coat missing, torn surface. Remember, dirt and a beat up look, is not original nor is corrosion or rust, just by calling it Patina, instead of unrestored.

It takes one of our experts over 200 hours of sanding, cleaning, repairing, restoring, undercoating, then  multi-clear coating the unit along with all the hardware including oven baking coatings and allowing very long about 40 hours of heating to bake dry and an additional 3 months of air drying to obtain this excellent condition.

Why would you want a collectible that looks bad and does not work?

Would you want a collector car like that?

DEFINITION OF A BARGAIN: Quality for less is a bargain.

Quality always goes up.

Less for less is not a bargain but a ploy.

An expert price, to restore it correctly, will always go up.

Materials to restore will always go up.

Hence, less is not less because it costs everyone later, even more.

Antique Tube Radios Survive Nuclear Attack

Early in 1960s both USA & then USSR found, during upper atmosphere (edge of space) nuclear tests, that on the ground tube radios survive and transistors do not.

In order to shut down the target city communications, along with ability to evacuate or retaliate, it is now probable; the first detonation will come at us from above. Enemy ground troops would face no harmful radiation lasting 10,000 years.

Only thing seen would be a flash of light above city, followed by sudden permanent failure of most electronics in use today. During this total, immediate large city panic, a ground attack likely would then ensue. It will be the death of all the typical poor quality digital items, currently hawked, as new, latest, greatest finger flicking technology sold easily as (new latest for less).

With the 120 VAC outlets (220 VAC Europe), still likely providing power, or a typical gasoline generator backup, nuclear test has shown that tube radios will still work regardless of an EMP and may someday help you, or a future descendants, during an attack, receive the necessary survival information.

Space detonation does not produce physical damage to target but an Electro Magnetic Pulse, which destroys transistors & integrated circuits. These operate all your current computers, radios, telephones, and television products. Since the ignition also is microcomputer controlled, even your modern automobile will not start. A pencil, during nuclear attack, beats a computer every time & seldom fails.

The extremely large EMP (Electro Magnetic Pulse) nuclear explosion creates goes straight to the earth while blast force, sun surface blast temperature, plus harmful particle radiation is left in outer space.

The customer research group of, antique tube radio website, (nucow com) discovered not only obvious things about antique tube radios, but also actual unforeseen practical use.

They now are being looked at for other than collectible values of quality, beauty, linearity, longevity, heirloom, and so on but actual nuclear emergency use since obtaining a mechanical governed (Not Transistor Control) gasoline AC generator is the most common type and cheap to purchase, plus the USA and many countries have, tube based and radiation hardened AM band underground emergency transmitters with, non transistor controlled generators, setup for this very reason. AM broadcast band transmitters can be received thousands of miles away during most night hours unlike high frequency FM band. That is why you hear other cities at night on the AM band.

All the USA nuclear missiles have integrated guidance circuits that are radiation hardened (costs 1000 times more) hence (hopefully) not misguided by an EMP blast. All the Russian nuclear missiles have tube guidance circuits that do not require the very expensive radiation hardening.

Tubes have 90 years of perfected tested reliability. These are some of the typical reasons Russians & others, microwave ovens, high powered transmitters, including radars over the world, use tubes not transistors. Past technology survives better in most conditions.

New is not new to failure.

Collector's Guide to Antique Radios 7th EditionThis item will fit in a flat rate envelope.

John Slusser, collector, full-time radio dealer, and well-known figure in the radio field, along with the staff of Radio Daze, have compiled this updated and expanded seventh edition of our popular series. Filling the need for an easy-to-use, complete price guide to these collectibles, Collector s Guide to Antique Radios, Seventh Edition, gives descriptions and current values for approximately 10,000 models of antique radios with over 800 full-color photographs. Our guide gives complete descriptions of every radio along with selected full-color photos and information about the radio manufacturers. The informative text provides explanations for the many confusing terms and abbreviations used in the radio field. Listed alphabetically by company, the radios are accompanied by current collector values. The book is devoted to the golden age of radios, the 1920s through the 1950s. Although the majority of these radios have long since vanished, many still remain as living examples of the quality and charm of products from this period.

This is a "remaindered" book which has been discounted, due to either publisher overstock or to minor cosmetic damage. From inside cover: This book has been sold by the publisher / distributor at a reduced wholesale price for one of the following reasons: shipping damage, new edition has been released, out of print, too few available to advertise.
