Here’s one you don’t see very often. A rare 1937 Airline model 62-346. This stunning set features an attractive Art Deco cabinet, bright green tuning eye, unique and very bright tele-dial, and excellent performance on the AM broadcast band.

Cabinet: The Art Deco designed cabinet is done in walnut and simply stunning. The dark walnut tones and black trim contrast the bright green tuning eye and bright tele-dial magnificently. What a sight, especially in a dimly lit room. The left side columned extension and the Art Deco grill cut out add to the already extreme attractiveness of this set. This rare beauty is sure to be the topic of conversation no matter which room in the home or office you choose to display it in.

The Cabinet’s Finish: All of our radio cabinets undergo a vigorous restoration process using a minimum 12 coats of Mohawk brand lacquers and toners. We use a nitrocellulose piano lacquer which is applied through a professional HVLP turbine spray system in a climate controlled room. A 1000, 2000, & 4000 grit wet sanding follows every third coat. The cabinet is finished off with a three step polishing process ending with an Oz glaze rub. During the restoration process on this set a small veneer repair was made on the top back left of the cabinet. It has been blended and is nothing that detracts from the beauty of the set. Many hours of work are put into these radios, but as you can see, the final outcome is a beautiful cabinet with gorgeous luster & shine. Our radios are a great piece of history that come to you ready to proudly display, as well as listen to, in any room of the house or office.

Dial/Knobs: The brightly lit tele-dial is in excellent condition. The dial gets the nickname from it’s design resembling a telephone dial. Simply place your finger in the hole and turn to the chrome pointer to tune in! Quite an innovative feature for the time. As you can see, it lights nice and bright with a warm orange glow making for a spectacular look coupled with the bright green tuning eye. Numeric station frequencies are present in the center of the dial and are all legible showing very little signs of wear. Both bakelite knobs are in excellent shape and work as they should; on/off & volume and tuning.

Electronics/Chassis:  The 6 tube (including eye tube) chassis has been electronically restored and plays great. All caps, filters, and resistors have been checked and replaced as needed. All tubes have been tested and brittle wires replaced. The chassis has been cleaned, lubed and re-aligned for optimal performance. I‘m able to pick up many stations on the AM broadcast band with sensitive reception, plenty of volume, and excellent tone. I will include a 30 day warranty on the tubes, caps and filters.

I have included a link to a short video clip. This clip will give you a sample of this radio playing on the AM Broadcast band. The video quality isn't the best, due to using a low quality camera to record, however it does the job. Click on this link to view: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JX7XGHa2xzo
